Portrait Commissions

There's nothing quite like a really good portrait in oils to make a perfect and lasting gift or family keepsake.

I have been painting portraits professionally for many years and have experience in painting both young and old, using an individualised approach every time to capture the likeness and character in the right way for each client. I work from photographs, so there is no need for sitting and this also means a painting can be a surprise gift which is often the intention when I am asked to create this type of work.

Prices currently start from £500 for a head and shoulders piece, but I can give you a personalised quote once we've talked; contact me here to arrange a free call or to discuss your ideas by email.

Below are some examples of my work, displaying a range of very different approaches and showing how different settings can be used to add interest and depth to the portrayal of a personality.

His Holiness.JPG

This  full length portrait was commissioned by a member of the UK Sikh community and depicts His Holiness Satguru Jagjit Singh, the late head of the Sikh faith. As it was painted posthumously, all work was done from photographic references provided by the client, backed up by a considerable amount of research and initial sketches etc.  The aura around his head, the garden setting, frangipani flowers and the peacock all have a special connection to the subject and were included in the composition for this reason.
